Helly Hansen Launch Innovative Lifaloft Range

Four years in the making, development and design, Helly Hansen have unveiled their new Lifaloft jackets for Winter 2018. Crafted to be lighter, thinner and warmer than any other jacket out there, this sleek garment utilises Primaloft technology for the ultimate in performance. In fact, the new technology has already won Helly Hansen a Red Dot award for product design!

Stemming from a relationship with the Swedish national ski team, Helly Hansen have created one of the warmest and yet most versatile and light jackets on the market. To achieve this, the brand worked closely with Primaloft (specialists in synthetic insulation) to created the brand’s new “Lifa” fibres.

According to the brand “Constructed with 75% Lifa® fibres and 25% synthetic fibres. It is less bulky in construction and weighs 20% less than standard polyester alternatives. However, delivers more warmth based on an increased number of microscopic air pockets that capture and retain heat. It is also a more sustainable choice due to a lower water and carbon foot print.”

Additionally, the Lifa fibres do not absorb moisture, therefore making them an even greater weapon against cold weather. The result of this is a super light, warm jacket that is also windproof and water resistant. For £160, this seems like a great value all round and innovative solution to the practicalities of keeping warm in the colder months.

Highlights of the collection include the men’s and women’s Lifaloft Hybrid Insulator jackets, featuring slick-face fleece fabric in the arms and side panels. The zonal construction makes the insulator an ultra-versatile layering or stand-alone jacket for conditions throughout the year and will be worn by the Swedish Olympic Ski team on training and travel days leading up to the 2019 World Championships.
